Re: Introductions
Tue, July 13, 2004 - 5:41 PMI'm a mother and currently do nothing but be a mother. I get $2500 a month from the husband since he cheated on me and I left. So I'm choosing to be lazy and not work, like...outside the home.
From Southern California but I live in NC for the next 8 months. Favorite color must be green because I see it every where. That or burgandy, because I see that all over my house too. hrm...
I guess my favorite movie star is Nicholas Cage, then again, I really like GOD UGH@! I ALWAYS forget his fucking name! Plays a bad guy a lot, hosted saturday night a lot, has a weird New York accent and always slicks his hair back. I really need to write his name down because this always happens. Anyway.
I like music from Depeche Mode to Goldfrapp to Death Cab for Cutie.
I'm easily annoyed, so turn-offs would take too long to list. Turn-on's? Who knows.
No fella.
So that night I was feeling really risky, ok? The kids were with their grandmother and I just HAD to do something. So why not take a taxi to the most dangerous part of town?
That wasn't me. -

No but I guess there's probably some dude out there who would do it for me.

Never alone but NYE 2000 was pretty sketchy.

Re: Introductions
Tue, July 13, 2004 - 9:12 PMwhat do you do?

Black, Red, dark green and Purple hell is opalescant sparkly a color??? I love most colors.
Who's your favorite movie star?
Johnny Depp ok not original but yummy interesting. Salma Hayek, and reaching back Vivien Leigh and Clark Cable.

Re: Introductions
Tue, July 13, 2004 - 10:34 PMwhat do you do?
I teach 4th grade math, reading, writing and science in Spanish at a dual-immersion charter school. I love my job. Apart from my job I do many things in an effort to maintain a balanced life. I hike, read, dance, cook, chat with friends, a little yoga here and there, visit with family, watch movies, and the list goes on.
Where're ya from?
Sonoma County, Ca
What's your favorite color?
greens, blues
Who's your favorite movie star?
I feel repetitive, but Johnny Depp and Salma Hayek, oh and Kate Winslet-yummmmm, I watch any movie Antonio Banderas is in, and I've just decided that Toby Mcguire (is that his name?spelling?the spiderman guy) has a very nice body. Although I suppose these are my favorite movie stars for the yum factor. In terms of really acting I still really like Johnny Depp, but I also really like Jack Nicholson, Kirsten Dunst, Charlie Chaplin, and many more.
What kinda music do you like?
Lots of different kinds; blues, oldies, motown, rock'n'roll, classic rock, some jazz, world (whatever that means exactly; salsa, middle eastern dance, a little celtic harp...), folk, and so much more. Anything that has a great bass line, great lyrics, draws me in and makes me move is great to me.
What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?
turn-ons: people working for a more just, more sustainable world, assertiveness, smiling/laughing, movement, breathing deeply.
turn-offs: passiveness, unnecessary drama, meanness.
Do you have a fella?
No, but I have a terrible unrequited infatuation.
What's the story behind you takin' a cab to the most dangerous part of town alone?
Actually, I wasn't alone, I was with a friend. The NY cab driver took us to the wrong address and when we pointed it out to him, he proceeded to take us back across town and then charged us poor, innocent, california hippie girls for the entire trip. At least we made it to that play on time!
And, in a theater full of empty seats, why did you sit by me?
full of empty seats, eh? You must be awfully damn fine looking, and I must be feeling especially good about myself..or..you must be my good friend who I went to the movie with. -

a.) makes affluent white christian males sterile, or
b.) turns adolescent young men and women into homosexuals once they hit adulthood
-- are completely unfounded. So feel free to keep on drinking! HAA HAAA! -

As far as traditional job definitions go, I am a case manager at a children's psychiatric hospital. Unconventional way to make 3 bucks every few weeks = drag king.
Where're ya from?
Born in Melboring, but I live in Trampa.
What's your favorite color?
brown
Who's your favorite movie star?

What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?
Lightswitches.
Do you have a fella?
No, but I play one on tv.
What's the story behind you takin' a cab to the most dangerous part of town alone?
Truthfully, I'm a chicken shit. There are many stories of my mother that would back me up here. There could be a baby in that box, and you can't see in the fog, and people will steal your candy and call you names. Alas, I only walk to the most dangerous parts of town alone, and make friends with panhandlers along the way.

I do stuff, things, you know...
Art, movies, spend time with those I love, try to grow and learn and create and be the best I can be...
Where're ya from?:
I was born in Dallas, raised in OC in So Cal
What's your favorite color?:
Now that is a tough one, I will have to think about it and get back to you, hehehehehheehe!
Who's your favorite movie star?:
Don't really just have one, um, too many to really list at the moment.
What kinda music do you like?:
Lots, again, too many to really list at the moment.
What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?
Turn-ons: intellegence, creativity, beauty as seen through my eyes, honesty, integrity, sense of humor
Turn-offs:
Ignorance, stagnation, those that live in fear and hate
Do you have a fella?
Not presently
What's the story behind you takin' a cab to the most dangerous part of town alone?

Re: Introductions
Fri, August 20, 2004 - 12:37 PMMy turn, my turn!
Well, for starters, what do you do?
I sneak around planting psychedelic tomato plants... Oh! You mean for a *living*... Um, I'm a landscape architect.
Where're ya from?
Born and raised in DC area. Now I'm a Seattlite. Lived in Israel with my family a bit in the 70's too.
What's your favorite color?
Ultra-violet, of course.
Who's your favorite movie star?
Hmm. I am currently between favorite movie stars. Johnny Depp can be my perennial favorite while I search for a new one on which to obsess.
What kinda music do you like?
The stuff I make up on my piano or accordion. Some of it can be most peculiar! Back when my friend Linda and I were a Seattle band called The Splendour Girls, we had a whole vaudeville/burlesque/lounge/trippy thing going.
What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?
Whoa, too complex to get into here! Um, bring me superdark chocolate and you will be my bestest friend. Stalking BAD, baking cupcakes for one another GOOD.
Do you have a fella?
I am also currently between fellas (or gals for that matter).
What's the story behind you takin' a cab to the most dangerous part of town alone?
I always wanted to be from the wrong side of the tracks...

I'm gainfully employed as a bartender.
In everyday life, I strive to be the kind of person that my loved ones would want in their life through good times and bad, be a good example/positive influence on my niece and fulfill my pursuit of happiness. Yes, all of that, and work toward the completion of my objectives for world domination.
> Where're ya from?
Born in Pittsburgh, PA. Living in SF by the circuitous route of Portland, OR; McKeesport, PA; Newberg, OR; Tacoma, WA; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR.
> What's your favorite color?
Can't settle on one: Indigo blue and neon orange.
> Who's your favorite movie star?
Marvin the Martian, Pepe Le Pew, John Turturro, Cate Blanchett
> What kinda music do you like?
Jazz, classicial, 'alt' (I don't exactly know what that means, but people who are still alive and making/writing/creating their own original music, seem to fall into this category), old country…music that makes me smile and doesn't jar the nerves. Not exactly 'easy listening music', but not difficult listening music either.
> What are your turn-ons and turn-offs?
Turn on: wicked sense of humor, compassion, kindness, generosity, graciousness
Turn off: pettiness, bigotry, bitterness, mean spiritedness, possessiveness, sense of entitlement
> Do you have a fella?
Nope, that position has been vacant, but unavailable for quite some time now. After careful evaluation of Q1 and Q2 as well as preliminary review of Q3, however, the board has decided to begin accepting applications again. The board is seeking no one person in particular and realizes that this position may never be filled, and, quite frankly, is fine with that as the board also recognizes the power and beauty of existing relationships. However, should the right candidate apply, who knows what madness, mayhem and merriment could ensue?
> What's the story behind you takin' a cab to the most dangerous part of town alone?
I was young. It was dark. I needed the money.
> And, in a theater full of empty seats, why did you sit by me?
I thought I heard you snickersnort when The Impressive Clergyman said, "Mawage." I was certain you did when he said, "And wuv...twu wuv."

Re: Introductions
Mon, September 13, 2004 - 12:41 PMHi everyone, I'm Patti.
I work in a warehouse for an online bookstore in Reno, NV. My favorite colors are red and purple, my favorite star is my future ex-husband, Ralph Fiennes, and I like ALL music, but my favorite is electronica. My turn-ons are a secret for my lovers, LOL, but my turn-offs include arrogance, baby talk, and plausible deniability. I don't have a fella or a gal, and most likely, I took that cab to meet "Mr. Right Now" ;)
I sat next to you 'cause I was hoping you'd share your popcorn with me. -

Well, for starters, what do you do? I am mom to 3 cats, including Da Tyler Monster. Not working due to fibromyalgia, osteo-arthritis and some other nasty medical problems I won't go into here. Where're ya from? Born in L.A. County, have lived a variety of places, all is So. Calif. and including O.C. What's your favorite color? I have 2 and prefer tham in combo witbh one another, green and peach. Who's your favorite movie star? What kinda music do you like? Some praise and worship, soft rock a la '70's and '80's, occasionally a country song strikes my fancy, electronic music like Chariots of Fire, almost anything if it is good quality, but not heavy metal or rap. What are your turn-ons and turn-offs? Turn-ons: Sweet smile, sexy legs, cute butt, preferably female, although I can and do admire an attractive male as well. Turn-offs: A smoker and/or a tweaker, poor hygiene, pissy attitude. Do you have a fella? Yes and his wife too! What's the story behind you takin' a cab to the most dangerous part of town alone? I was supposed to watch my gf's band perform at the lesbian bar there. And, in a theater full of empty seats, why did you sit by me? I sat next to you cause you look so much like Johnny Depp. He's a hottie you know.

Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1986
by William S. Burroughs
For John Dillinger
In hope he is still alive
Thanks for the wild turkey and the Passenger Pigeons, destined to be shit out through wholesome American guts –
thanks for a Continent to despoil and poison –
thanks for Indians to provide a modicum of challenge and danger –
thanks for vast herds of bison to kill and skin, leaving the carcass to rot –
thanks for bounties on wolves and coyotes –
thanks for the AMERICAN DREAM to vulgarize and falsify until the bare lies shine through –
thanks for the KKK, for nigger-killing lawmen feeling their notches, for decent church-going women with their mean, pinched, bitter, evil faces –
thanks for “Kill a Queer for Christ” stickers –
thanks for laboratory AIDS –
thanks for Prohibition and the War Against Drugs –
thanks for a country where nobody is allowed to mind his own business –
thanks for a nation of finks — yes,
thanks for all the memories… all right, let’s see your arms… you always were a headache and you always were a bore –
thanks for the last and greatest betrayal of the last and greatest of human dreams.
Notings: “Thanksgiving Day” first appeared in the chappedassbook "Tornado Alley" with illustrations by S. Clay Wilson. Gus Van Sant then made ze short film of Burroughs reading ze text (see linky-link above).
